It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: A child with a great deal of writing talent his parents made sure he got the chance to thrive. He made a point of taking high paying jobs and getting most of it up front. He has dedicated himself to building a better village for his children.

History: Born in the west his family was never financially stable. When the war came and ruined his parents he was left adrift. He was a hard man then and has only learned to fight more as time goes on. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: Wants to have a good time and be beloved; and balancing his hectic life and new actor responsibilities is difficult

Personality: He is witty, but his monotone delivery comes off as unnerving He is motivated by money and will often try and persuade people to work for cheap. He haggles over everything, upselling his goods and buying cheap. He is persistent in everything.

History: He was born a particularly ugly child, much to the horror of his parents. His father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his father was legitimate. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.
