History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Laucian was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He was an apprentice working in his father's forge. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Stylist for hire.

History: Shágflak was raised in a hard working conservative environment. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. He now owns his own business.

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. He was an apprentice working in his mother's forge. He has set out to sabotage the competition.

Motivation: Further expansion of business; and marry his sister to traveling adventurers
