Because they were valued, his father taught him to defend himself. When his father died while fighting gnolls, the young Charles began to lead the lost caravan. He has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.

History: He was born at the edge of vast mountains. His parents were killed by goblins in a raid when he was still a young child. The goblins captured him, and made him a slave and general play-thing. He was beaten and tortured regularly, leading to his deformed appearance. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Since his mother passed away years ago, his father had doted on him, and he came to think her himself as special and better than other people in town. A notion that was reinforced by his attractiveness, a trait in which he easily excels the other men of his town. He now mingles about in high society.
