History: He was born to a criminal king-pin and mafia family His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Mindartis grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Mindartis. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: He feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help; and he has comitted a past crime that haunts him to this day

Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. Some 6 years later his spouse died after the birth of his son. Heartbroken, Balam never married again. Instead he focused his life to raising his son whom he trained as his mother had trained him before.
