He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Halfling doctor. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.

This search led him directly into Miner work with an outfit from a few towns over. Miner work suited him well, and with each successful project, he earned more gold and more respect from his peers. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Miner for hire.
