Being a Carter kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

Motivation: He feels that his past leaves him morally obligated to help; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions

Recently a tribe of brigands attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Guard hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He hopes to save up enough money to one day pay a cleric to cure him.

Motivation: He feels kind of lost in life.
