History: Her history is one of pain. She was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves her parents kept. In her 18th year, her parents were killed by a gnolls raid, leaving Matilda alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. Unlike her family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, she wanted to work in the city. She has been working here for the past few years.

History: The child of southern immigrants she idolized her father. Jacoba was born on a far southern mountains where she grew up under the tutelage of her father, an expert Ruler. She struck the Ruler job and began her own company from there.

His partner is his best friend in the world. The two are very close despite being more or less each other's opposites. History: He was born at the edge of vast plains. He has had some formal writing training, and achieved minor success. He left for the west, certain he would find work there.

History: She was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. A gypsy cursed her at a young age, leading to her ugly appearance. She spent several years traveling with her friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.
