This search led him directly into Sage work with an outfit from a few towns over. Sage work suited him well, and with each successful project, he earned more gold and more respect from his peers. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the west. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Varis grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Varis. He has recently gotten a pet goose that steals things from people.
