History: She was raised happily, as a normal child born to her father and mother. Merla was left her father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. She has built up a small fortune and can afford her own way.

History: Ralf was born the youngest of three triplets. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Ralf grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Ralf.
