During his travels, Balam and his party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Balam discovered the rest of his party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Balam fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing his own horrible transformation.

Personality: He is quiet and reserved most of the time, but warms up to people very quickly. Around friends he is liable to tell dirty jokes and enjoy himself. He is used to getting what he wants. In part because he is a meticulous planner.

History: He was raised happily, as a normal child born to his father and mother. His father taught him the rudiments of the Armorer arts, while his mother instructed him in etiquette, music and courtly manner. He found a children's book about a Dwarf Sorcerer who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

Personality: The man has a huge range of feeling. He will range from being happy and joking with the occasional self put down to crying stating how he will be a better person from this day on. He is a thrill seeker, he laughs at people and throws down challenges. He is highly competitive and combative.

History: He was born at the edge of vast plains. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Geoffrey grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Geoffrey. When he grew older, he became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. He began work as a mercenary for hire. He would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.

Motivation: He will attempt to ambush and attack anyone he thinks he can take on alone and try to knock them out with non-lethal damage. If successful, he will try to sell them to his slave-trader contact; and he uses money and sex appeal to get what he needs

Personality: She is almost excessively polite to everyone, even when angry. She always tries to repair and not replace. It was this mentality that drove her into the Soapmaker business.

History: She was born a particularly ugly child, much to the horror of her parents. Her mother was very strict, and drilled into her lessons on being the perfect lady. One night she noticed a nearby shooting star which she hiked out to see where it landed. It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. She has done her darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

Motivation: She is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences her actions; and she feels that her past leaves her morally obligated to help

Personality: She is shy and timid. She has not had much interaction with people and is skittish around them. She cannot deal with unfamiliar people for more than a few minutes at a time and if they persist she will grow angry at them.

History: She was always a brilliant, if unscrupulous mind. Through the years after Gaaki was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south. Gaaki's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

History: She was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. She was one of the best in her class, and was picked up by her current employer. She quickly showed her capability and was soon promoted to a head role. She ran away from her former home and has been making her living as a Cook for the past few years.

History: When she was but 6 years old her parents immigrated from the south. She helped her mother out around the business and became quite the natural. She's also a talented Ruler, but doesn't like to broadcast it.
