History: Ulla lived on a farm with her mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. In her 17th year, her parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Ulla alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: Thamior was raised in a hard working conservative environment. Before the accident, he was one of the most outspoken anti-Gnomish activists. He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Gnomish doctor. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Soapmaker for hire.

History: He was born with several neurological imbalances, which makes sleep difficult for him. It may also be what makes him so good at details. A freak accident while working with his Navigator mother left him crippled. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

History: The child of western immigrants she idolized her father. She took every job she could get her hands on, but the opportunities for Tabaxis in the west were limited. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.
