Through the years after Cloak was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south. Cloak's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. Unlike her family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, she wanted to work in the city. History: Sold as a small child to a brothel owner, Keyleth was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. In her 13th year, her parents were killed by a brigands raid, leaving Keyleth alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by brigands. Keyleth was horrified and prayed that her mother was alright. However, she heard that her mother had died fighting off the brigands.

She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She remains aloof and afraid to be herself due to all the ideals others have placed upon her.
