History: She was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. A gypsy cursed her at a young age, leading to her ugly appearance. Due to her spouse's obsession with being a Soapmaker they were divorced and she won custody of their daughter. She worked as a Painter, and she later adopted a second daughter.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Painter and was forced into it by her family; and find a way to reverse the transformation of her sister

History: He comes from a rich southern family. His mother had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He has been saving his money to try and buy his sister's freedom.

History: She served in the navy to pay for her family's outstanding loans. She graduated from the Naval Academy and went to see the world at the rank of Ensign. She advanced relatively quickly due to her good work ethic, understanding of the chain of command, and natural leadership ability. She now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

History: From birth he was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. His father disappeared, and while he tried to raise money to find his father, he was betrayed dozens of times. He has been saving his money to try and buy his sister's freedom.

Motivation: Regain custody of his son.

History: She was born in the east, but her parents moved at a very young age to the north. In her 20th year, while out on a day-trip, she returned to find her hometown burning and destroyed. She found her father impaled in their home, and her mother beheaded. She saw the woman who walked out, and charged her in a blind rage. The woman easily evaded and defeated her, leaving her to live broken and terrified. She left for the east, certain she would find work there.
