It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Harvest was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. She struck it rich when she found rare goods in large quantities. She routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: Mardred lived on a farm with her father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. When Mardred reached her early adolescence her Dwarf father passed away. Feeling disconnected from the small nearby village afterwards, she decided to travel. Her rounds led her into the Army with a few individuals who would become her life-long companions. History: Cloak was born to in a poor docking district. He spent his early days working in the same smith shop his father was employed at, doing general labor. His father was a soldier and died while he was still young. Cloak was left his father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. As of late he has set up a hidden staging nest where he ambushes people he hires for escort.

History: Born to a poor family in the city she treasured whatever gifts she got. When the war came and ruined her parents she was left adrift. She was a hard woman then and has only learned to fight more as time goes on. She has drifted apart from her friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature crossbow.

Motivation: Obtaining odd cultural Half-Elven artifacts is her passion; and she desires power and/or immortality

History: She was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. Her father disappeared, and while she tried to raise money to find her father, she was betrayed dozens of times. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to giants demanding more tribute than usual.

History: His history is one of pain. He was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves his parents kept. His homeland was ravaged by war and he spent much of his life rebuilding it. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
