He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Tabaxi doctor. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

In the process these unassuming Humans became a terror of the countryside. Unlike her family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, she wanted to work in the city.
