The family never returned to the forest due to the painful memories there. Thiala took refuge in the ruined castle and found the beat up morningstar and armor she uses now. Some 10 years later her spouse died after the birth of her son. Heartbroken, Thiala never married again. Instead she focused her life to raising her son whom she trained as her father had trained her before.
