History: He was born a particularly ugly child, much to the horror of his parents. At a young age both his parents were killed in an accident. His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by orcs, and he desires to right it; and a need for knowledge about a nearby landmark

History: Her history is one of pain. She was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves her parents kept. She was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. She has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.
