She would practice along the way and, when she arrived, be apprenticed to a Sailor. She then took over the family business and is one of the better Sailor for hire.

However, she heard that her father had died fighting off the dire rats.

History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. After coming to the age of reason, Rurik took it upon himself to study the divine arts in their entirety; because of this, he was labeled a dark omen and banished from his homeland.
