History: She was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Vani grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Vani. Recently a tribe of dire rats attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Vani fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.

Personality: She's a bit of a prankster. She knows she is clumsy and seen as such and will often feign amnesia after injury. She believes the world needs to unite to get rid of dire rats once and for all.

History: She was born in the east. Her martial abilities were realized during a raid on her village. She left for the east, certain she would find work there.

Motivation: Her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and she desires to right it; and someone believes her a fraud

History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Az-Bror was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Half-Elves in Andraste's homeland. Andraste decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. She has never given up on her dancing dream.

Motivation: She will attempt to ambush and attack anyone she thinks she can take on alone and try to knock them out with non-lethal damage. If successful, she will try to sell them to her slave-trader contact; and to find somewhere to settle down
