He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. He left for the east, certain he would find work there.

His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Nalral grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Nalral. Recently he has begun working with bootleggers and crooks.
