She was a general practitioner in the east for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way west. She left for the east, certain she would find work there.

Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Tabaxis in Silent's homeland. Silent decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard.
