When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Guard hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

She quickly showed her capability and was soon promoted to a head role. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by brigands. Kava was horrified and prayed that her father was alright. However, she heard that her father had died fighting off the brigands.
