He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.

Through the years after Ulla was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. He bought a rapier and has really upped his game hunting, due to his understanding of decoy and ambush.
