Personality: While he is on the job, he is grim and serious. He understands how dangerous the world is and the need to stay safe. He is obsessed with a lost civilization.

History: He was raised by priests from a young age. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Umpen grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Umpen. He is searching for what he claims is his rightful reward.

History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Hugh was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared.
