History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his mother always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. A gifted student he started as a Bowyer, but he got bored and became a Courier. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Courier for hire.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. While studying, he fell in love. They married and had a daughter. After a long history of fighting, Alston and his spouse have recently divorced.

Perhaps he's slightly insane, or otherwise so mentally alien to the rest of the world that he plain doesn't fit in. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to gnolls demanding more tribute than usual.
