History: She was born a particularly ugly child, much to the horror of her parents. Being born in the west, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the west for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way east. When her spouse passed she lost her only source of income but claims to her sons to still be retired.

History: The child of northern immigrants he idolized his mother. His father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his father was legitimate. Being a Gardener kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

Motivation: A rival would like him out of the picture; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions
