When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Apothecary hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She now spends her time doing works of charity.

His uncle (a powerful person with enemies on both sides of the law) took him in and had him trained in basic self defense. He would ruin relationships and cause injury.
