Perhaps she's slightly insane, or otherwise so mentally alien to the rest of the world that she plain doesn't fit in. She is untrained/undisciplined, which makes her dangerous.

History: She was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. She has had some formal dancing training, and achieved minor success. She eventually got the idea of being the protector of her homeland from reading books, and has made it her duty.

History: A powerful necromancer made him what he is. His parents divorced when he was young, and his father gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.
