When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Mercenary hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He spent several years traveling with his friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

Motivation: To pay off his debts; and he made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it

History: She was born in the east. Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Dragonborns in Sora's homeland. Sora decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. She was granted necromantic powers by her dying sister.

Motivation: To reunite with her absent father; and find a way to reverse the transformation of her sister
