History: Raised by wardens she was only a novice when brigands swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. At a young age she wooed the heart of her future spouse and the two had a long relationship before they wed. Some 6 years later her spouse died after the birth of her son. Heartbroken, Merla never married again. Instead she focused her life to raising her son whom she trained as her mother had trained her before.

History: Rangrim lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. He made a point of taking high paying jobs and getting most of it up front. He has been saving his money to try and buy his brother's freedom.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his mother always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. Brilliant and gifted he never wanted to apply himself. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

Personality: She has a massive crush on the younger sibling of the Seamstress who has hired her part-time. Her brief stint in the army gave her the idea she was invincible and that she is the toughest woman alive.

History: She comes from a rich western family. She dropped out of school before completing her studies. She has recently attracted an admirer that believes she's playing hard to get.

Motivation: Wants her loneliness to end; and wants a kiss
