History: She was born to a pair of big game hunters, but was frequently ill as a child. At a young age her father died while driving off some giants. Her mother being the stubborn sort decided to stay and helped train her in hand crossbow use. She routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: A child with a great deal of painting talent her parents made sure she got the chance to thrive. She has had some formal painting training, and achieved minor success. Unlike her family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, she wanted to work in the city. She has been working here for the past few years.

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. Through the years after Rolen was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south. Rolen's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He has set out to sabotage the competition.
