History: She was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. When Philomena reached her early adolescence her Halfling father passed away. Feeling disconnected from the small nearby village afterwards, she decided to travel. Her rounds led her into the Army with a few individuals who would become her life-long companions. She has been saving her money to try and buy her sister's freedom.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Engraver and was forced into it by her family; and find a way to reverse the transformation of her sister

She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

History: Hubert hails from a village terrorized by giants. His parents divorced when he was young, and his father gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his father, who blamed him for driving them apart. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to giants demanding more tribute than usual.
