History: The child of southern immigrants he idolized his father. Before the accident, he was one of the most outspoken anti-Halfling activists. He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Halfling doctor. He left for the south, certain he would find work there.

Personality: He likes to make people angry or surprised. His respect, as difficult as one would find it to earn, is unwavering; those who more than prove themselves to him, a bar set well above any reasonable standard, he tolerates in varying degrees. Though less modest and more hasty in his reactions to snap at those who irritate him, Emerald is combative with any and all who dare try his patience in the slightest.

History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. His parents divorced when he was young, and his mother gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his mother, who blamed him for driving them apart. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Motivation: He seems to be bored by most things.

History: Born in the east to a Marshal, Tatyan learned a great deal about her mother's area of expertise. She helped her mother out around the business and became quite the natural. She ran away from her former home and has been making her living as a Marshal for the past few years.

History: She was born in the west. When she came of age, she joined a caravan that would eventually take her to the capital. She would practice along the way and, when she arrived, be apprenticed to a Cartwright. She struck the Cartwright job and began her own company from there.

History: Her history is one of pain. She was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves her parents kept. She was taken as a slave by a traveling circus and forced to perform She eventually got the idea of being the protector of her homeland from reading books, and has made it her duty.

Motivation: To protect her home; and wishes to resurrect an old love
