History: She was born in a small plains village. In her 17th year, while out on a day-trip, she returned to find her hometown burning and destroyed. She found her mother impaled in their home, and her father beheaded. She saw the woman who walked out, and charged her in a blind rage. The woman easily evaded and defeated her, leaving her to live broken and terrified. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to goblins demanding more tribute than usual.

History: Kite was born the youngest of three triplets. She couldn't stand her childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with her mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She has recently attracted an admirer that believes she's playing hard to get.

History: He got into the Guard business at a young age. A gifted student he started as a Bellfounder, but he got bored and became a Guard. He has set out to sabotage the competition.
