History: Aust was raised in a hard working conservative environment. His parents divorced when he was young, and his mother gained full cudstody. He was regularly beaten by his mother, who blamed him for driving them apart. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

She did not win them back, but she came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. She now owns her own business.

His family spent the next few days looking for him, and could only assume he was dead when it came time to leave. The family never returned to the mountains due to the painful memories there. Garl took refuge in the ruined castle and found the beat up kukri and armor he uses now. He hasn't been sleeping well lately.
