History: She is the product a well kept family trust fund and as such has never really known need. Her first spouse was a Fortune-teller, they had one son, but her spouse won total custody. Without her spouse to temper her she grew out of control. She now mingles about in high society.

History: Gifted from a young age, Emmeline studied abroad. Being born in the east, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the east for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way north. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. Like his father and his sister before him, after school he went straight into learning to become a Engraver. Being a Engraver kept his interest for a while, but then he became depressed and bored. So he turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when dire rats swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. He was an athlete and attended two major summer competitions. He never won. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.
