Recently a tribe of drow attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Through the years after Shanairla was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Shanairla's father didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.
