History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Shax was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. In her 16th year, her parents were killed by a brigands raid, leaving Shax alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.
