Personality: A skeptical and narcissistic woman, Mardnab's first love is herself. Her second love is also herself. The war was a terrible time for her, and Mardnab does not often speak of it. When she does, she does so with a strained expression and tears in her eyes.

History: She comes from a rich western family. Her father had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted her to inherit them. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

History: Her history is one of pain. She was disowned by both parents and raised among the slaves her parents kept. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her father gained full cudstody. She was regularly beaten by her father, who blamed her for driving them apart. After a long history of fighting, Shadow and her spouse have recently divorced.

History: Born in the south to a Jeweler, Dagger learned a great deal about her mother's area of expertise. She has had some formal writing training, and achieved minor success. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: She was raised in a desert tribe. Her family was being driven out of business by several neighboring competitors. The mother sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. She saw this and took pride in her mother's willingness to do anything to win. Being a Animal Trainer kept her interest for a while, but then she became depressed and bored. So she turned to a secret life of crime, taking increasingly more risks and challenges.
