During her travels, Vaina and her party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Vaina discovered the rest of her party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Vaina fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing her own horrible transformation.

History: The child of western immigrants she idolized her mother. She found a children's book about a Half-Elf Barbarian who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. She modeled her life after the story, seeing herself destined a hero. When she grew older, she became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. She began work as a mercenary for hire. She would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.
