He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Slave Trader they were divorced and he won custody of their son. He worked as a Laborer, and he later adopted a second son.

When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She leaves a trail of broken hearts and full pockets wherever she goes.
