Her spouse died of illness and she inherited everything. She spent several years traveling with her friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

Alain grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Alain. As of late she has set up a hidden staging nest where she ambushes people she hires for escort.
