History: Born to a poor family in the city she treasured whatever gifts she got. Before the accident, she was one of the most outspoken anti-Tiefling activists. She was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Tiefling doctor. She now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Shamil was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. A serious injury left her mother unemployed and in need of constant care. Her family became saddled with debt trying to care for her infirm mother. She has been saving her money to try and buy her sister's freedom.

She was regularly beaten by her mother, who blamed her for driving them apart. She left for the north, certain she would find work there.
