History: He was born in the north. A gifted student he started as a Navigator, but he got bored and became a Layabout. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: Sold as a small child to a wizard, Grai was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. She took after her father in leading caravans. Because they were valued, her father taught her to defend herself. When her father died while fighting goblins, the young Grai began to lead the lost caravan. She now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.
