History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. He was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. He spent several years traveling with his friend, before both settled down to enjoy the fruits of their adventures.

Because they were valued, his mother taught him to defend himself. When his mother died while fighting brigands, the young Shane began to lead the lost caravan. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to brigands demanding more tribute than usual.
