History: She was born in a small forest village. Shanairla liked to wander the woods near her home when she was young, something she still likes to do at least once a week. She never liked modest clothing or shoes, so she would wander the woods barefoot and lightly dressed, and she developed a good sense of balance and learned how to climb and swim well. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

History: Sarah hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. At some point she was captured by dire rats and was tortured. After several years of this she finally managed to escape. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by dire rats. Sarah was horrified and prayed that her mother was alright. However, she heard that her mother had died fighting off the dire rats.

Motivation: Her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and she desires to right it; and many dire rats want her driven away

Personality: He considers himself the protector of his home. He feels this is his duty and calling. He works hard and plays hard.

History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the south. When Erky reached his early adolescence his Gnome father passed away. Feeling disconnected from the small nearby village afterwards, he decided to travel. His rounds led him into the Army with a few individuals who would become his life-long companions. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

History: She was born to loving parents in a slum to the east. She moved from fad to fad and when she turned 15 she discovered music. She remains aloof and afraid to be herself due to all the ideals others have placed upon her.

History: Her parents moved while she was still in utero so she is the first generation to be born here. In her 15th year, her parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Gurdis alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She left for the east, certain she would find work there.

Motivation: Several ex partners dislike her way of doing things and want revenge.
