History: Adelaide lived on a farm with her father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. From there she went from mercenary job to mercenary job. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Shifting was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. A gypsy cursed him at a young age, leading to his ugly appearance. He now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

History: Trained by his father for as long as he can remember he had it drilled in his head that it was his duty to serve his country. In his formative years he discovered how persuasive he was. History: She was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. While studying, she fell in love. They married and had a daughter. She left for the west, certain she would find work there.
