She did not win them back, but she came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. She used her abilities to travel the world and help people.

When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Mayor hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.
