History: Birel was born to in a poor docking district. She spent her early days working in the same smith shop her mother was employed at, doing general labor. At some point she was captured by dire rats and was tortured. After several years of this she finally managed to escape. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

History: He comes from a rich southern family. Through the years after Kyle was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the south.
