In his 13th year, his parents were killed by a brigands raid, leaving Thervan alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

History: He got into the Sage business at a young age. His mother had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted him to inherit them. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.
